On To Nashville

On to Nashville

After an amazing time in Genoa, we hit the road to Nashville with a 7.5 hour trip ahead of us. Ever since Laura and I started dating, Nashville was a place we both wanted to visit. With both of us on either side of the country, it would have also been  a perfect “meet in the middle” location. It didn’t happen as soon as we would of hoped but when we started talking about her moving, Nashville was circled several times. We have made it but only after a few scenic detours and a quick stop in Lousiville.

We decided to avoid some highway traffic and construction and when off the beaten path. The scenery was gorgeous as we wove our way into Kentucky, corner of Indiana, and then back to Kentucky. At one point, I think we spent a solid hour just speaking everything in a southern draw…or trying to at least. Some great laughs!

Laura found this amazing brew pub right by the Louisville Slugger Field and Museum. We read one review about an amazing soft pretzel and the cheese sauce. We were sold – done, sign us up. It lived up to our expectations. Some kind of beer and gouda mix. It was the best cheese sauces we’ve ever had…and that’s saying a lot for Laura! 🙂

With our little stops and detour, the trip to Nashville took about 10 hours. A small little highlight was the excitement on Laura’s tired face when the timezone switched back one hour just before getting here. It meant an ‘extra’ hour in Nashville!

And what did we do when we got here? Rewarded ourselves with some delicious ice cream at Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. This was the first thing on the Laura’s to-do list months ago when planning started. (I didn’t argue.) Thanks to Holly “Jolly” Garrison for the suggestion and reminder too!

More to come on Nashville and some country singing last night. We’re having a blast! I’ve got to get going – Laura is yelling that we need to go catch a grilled cheese food truck from Nashville featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives! Ahhhhh!

I can tell you are having the time of your lives! Savor every minute before you run out of country to travel through and you reach the pacific.
